A photograph of Mr. Atta Istanbuli, a friend of Mr. Hicham Naoulo, taken after his graduation in front of the Faculty of Technology in Zagreb. This institution is known today as the Faculty of Textile Technology.

Textile and textile technology studies began in the 1960s at the then Faculty of Technology in Zagreb, as well as at higher education institutions in Duga Resa, Varaždin, and Zagreb. By the mid-1970s, the first graduates in textile and clothing design began completing their studies at the Higher Textile School in Zagreb. In 1983, the schools in Zagreb, Duga Resa, and Varaždin were unified into the Institute for Textile and Clothing, which functioned as part of the Faculty of Technology. In 1991, the Institute became an independent institution of higher education and was renamed the Faculty of Textile Technology. In September 2006, the Faculty moved into a new building next to the secondary textile school, with which it had previously shared its premises.
