A photograph of Mr. Hicham Naoulo wearing a fur-lined jacket, together with his Croatian language professor and fellow students on a trip to the Zagorje region. The trip was organized by the International Student Friendship Club (ISFC), and Mr. Naoulo believes it took place on May Day, the International Workers’ Day, in 1971.

The International Student Friendship Club (ISFC) was founded in 1962 by the Croatian Student Union in Zagreb. It was one of four student friendship clubs in former Yugoslavia, alongside those in Sarajevo, Ljubljana, and Belgrade. The ISFC was envisioned as a space dedicated to supporting the extracurricular needs of international students and organizing leisure and cultural activities for youth in Zagreb. The club brought together young people from abroad as well as from Croatia, making it a hub for internationalist education, the building and strengthening of friendships, and intercultural cooperation among nations.
